About Us
NAKKUR was born from a two-generation love of pearls and a lifelong sensitivity to art.
Guided by an understanding of art history and contemporary aesthetics, we see each piece of jewellery as a small composition. We are drawn to the way natural forms can hold emotion, and to the subtle power of objects that feel both intimate and sculptural.
At the heart of NAKKUR are baroque pearls. Unlike pearls shaped by perfect symmetry, baroque pearls carry the marks of their own becoming. Each one has its own silhouette, lustre and rhythm. No two are ever the same. It is this sense of quiet irregularity that we find most beautiful — a natural individuality that echoes the uniqueness of the person who wears it.
Our freshwater pearls are sourced through trusted pearl partners in Zhuji, China, one of the world’s most important regions for freshwater pearl cultivation. Each piece is then handcrafted in small batches, allowing us to work with the natural character of every pearl rather than treating them as identical materials. By staying close to the people and places behind our pearls, we are able to honour each pearl’s journey from cultivation to the final piece.
The name NAKKUR is inspired by nacre — the luminous mother-of-pearl layer that gives pearls their glow. It reflects what we value most: beauty shaped by nature and never repeated.
